Named after a the Babylonian Ziggurat that may have been inspired by the original "Tower of Babel" in Genesis Chapter 10, this installation considers parallels between electronic media and ancient religious tropes and symbols.
Does the use of broadcast and recording technology sometimes go beyond the typical aims of mass communication in a gesture toward concepts of immortality? If so, then how does one consider this strategy? Does mass-media, in fact, make those who control it more godlike, or is it folly to think so in an increasingly democratized culture of media production?
